UConn and the American Athletic Conference agree on buyout amount of $17 million

Per Mark Blaudschun:

UConn is going back to the Big East, but it won’t be cheap as they will fork over $17 million to the American Athletic Conference to do so. They will pay the AAC an extra $7 million ($10 million is the normal fee) to leave earlier than the 27 months allotted to do the early exit correctly.

The 2019-20 season will be the last season for UConn in the AAC and the conference as a whole just got a little richer.

Now, the question is will the move be worth it? Honestly with the way they are doing the football team I think this is a very short sighted move for the program as a whole, but who am I?
