UC, UCF and Houston now have a negotiation range with the AAC to join the Big 12 early?

Today, Brett McMurphy reported that UC, UCF and Houston are negotiating an early buyout with the AAC in the $17-$20 million range so they can join the Big 12 in the 2023-24 season. With this in play it seems it will be way less than the $30-$35 million buyout reported that the AAC wanted.

UConn is the standard at $17 million for an early exit fee and the regular 27-month exit fee is $10 million. Once this is done it will give UC, UCF and Houston clarity and also help the AAC add clarity to their new and existing members.

The AAC would allow its new schools: Charlotte, FAU, North Texas, Rice, UAB and UTSA to join in the same season that the three schools move to the Big 12.

I’m sure we will have a final number soon and once that is handled TFON will report on that as well!
