Former and current Bearcats players are building momentum for OC/QB Coach Gino Guidugli to be the next Cincinnati head coach

After six seasons Luke Fickell bolted to Wisconsin and now the Cincinnati Bearcats are searching for a head coach. Kerry Coombs is currently the interim coach and making his bid to become the new head guy, but the current staffer getting the most love is offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Gino Guidugli. Guidugli has been on the staff since 2017 when he joined as the running back coach, the next two years he was the quarterback coach, in 2020/2021 he added passing game coordinator to his duties and in 2022 he became the offensive coordinator.

Guidugli (2001-2004) is a Bearcat legend as he had all of the passing records until last year when Desmond Ridder broke them before he left for the NFL. A person that is currently in the Ring of Honor and a hell of a recruiter has started getting public love from current and former players to #Hire8. If you don’t know during his playing days his number 8.

The Bearcat legend has reportedly had an interview already and could possibly have a shot to make the final cut. Word around the camp fire is if Guidugli doesn’t get the head job, Fickell will come calling and snatch him for Wisconsin.

If Guidugli does get the job, he would be a guy that understands the Cincinnati tradition. He has roots from the past, present and looks to add to the future.

Check out who has publicly supported Guidugli!

Gavin Gerhardt, center, redshirt sophomore

Cam Jones, offensive tackle, redshirt junior

Brady Lichtenberg, quarterback, redshirt freshman

Quincy Burroughs, wide receiver, freshman

Landon Fickell, offensive guard, redshirt freshman
