2012 Week 5: College Football games of the Week

I was out of town last weekend so I didn’t get to dissect the games like I normally do but I saw K State took out the Sooners, The Irish beat Michigan and Florida St survived a shootout with Clemson. Florida St may be for real folks and don’t count out K State to make some bcs noise. Let’s get into which games you should be paying attention to this week.

Saturday 9/29

#25 Baylor @ #9 West Virginia, FX, Noon- West Virginia has one of the best college signal callers in the game right now in Eugene “Geno” Smith. If Baylor wants to pull off this Big 12 upset its terrible defense must play out of their minds and do it on the road. Nope, I don’t see that happening but it still is a game that you should keep your eyes peeled for.

Tennessee @ #5 Georgia, CBS, 3:30 pm– I’m scared to pick this game because of the Vols recent loss to the Gators. Bray when on can put points on the boards with those dynamic receivers. The Bulldogs have a dog at end with Jarvis Jones he is a one man wrecking crew, the Vols may want to assign at least two people to him EVERY play. Georgia should win at home but will the Vols surprise the nation?

#14 Ohio St @ #20 Michigan St, ABC, 3:30 pm– We will get to see how much the Buckeyes offense has really improved from last season as they only scored 7 points against the Spartans. Will Bell be able to control the game on offense? Will Miller be able to run and pass versus the Spartan defense? Only time will tell and both of these players will be the key for their respective teams. I want OSU to win but this is their first road test so if I was betting I would put my money on the Spartans, it hurts for me to say that but it’s the truth.

Virginia Tech vs Cincinnati @FedEx Field(Redskins Stadium), ESPN U, 3:30 pm– Tech gets a chance to redeem themselves versus another Big East school if they want to put the Pittsburgh nightmare behind them the Bearcats would be a good place to start. The Bearcats beat the Panthers pretty easily during their first game of the season so that should give them great confidence going into this game. Both teams have dual threat QB’s in Thomas and Leguax. At the beginning of the season Thomas was a dark horse  for the Heisman. Will UC be able to take out this ACC school just like their fellow Big East  team did or will Tech redeem themselves?

Make sure you check these games out this weekend. What games will you be watching let us know? Until next week, PEACE!
