2012 Week 17: NFL Games of the Week

This is the final week of the NFL season, and it was a great ride for NFL fans. There were several story lines, broken records, coaches on the hot seat, as well as several breakout players this season. Even though it is the last week of the season there are several marquee match ups that have a lot of playoff implications.  Please feel free to comment on our selections this week.

Houston Texans @ Indianapolis Colts, 1:00pm, ET

This is a huge game for both teams. The Texans are fighting to hold on to the top spot in the AFC, and will the Broncos and Patriots gaining steam on them they will need to beat the Indianapolis Colts. Andrew Luck & Co. got dominated in the last contest, but will look for revenge in this match up. I feel that the Texans will continue their downward spiral into the playoffs, by taking a L in “Naptown”.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings, 4:25pm, ET

The Packers do not want to be on the wrong end of history. Adrian Peterson is needs 207 yards to surpass the single season rushing record held by Eric Dickerson. I think the Vikings will get caught up in the moment trying to feed A.D. the ball. Whether Peterson gets the record or not I think that the Packers will be too much to handle. Packers win despite giving up big yardage to Peterson.

Dallas Cowboys @ Washington Redskins, @ 8:20pm, ET (Sunday Night Football)

robertgriffinIIIThe battle of the NFC East hits prime time television. In the last contest RGIII carved up the Cowboys defense on Thanksgiving Day. The Cowboys offense is potent, but the defense presents many liabilities. It will be an all in match up and the loser will miss the playoffs. All of the pressure is on Dallas to win. If the Redskins win or lose Shanahan’s Redskin’s surpassed all expectations this season. This will be a statement game for RGIII. I believe he will deliver, and places his stamp on the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.  Redskins by 7.
