Steve Blake is off to the Bay Area

Second trade of the day. The Lakers and Warriors made a quick move before the deadline. Nobody is going to do a backflip and I totally understand, but this move makes sense for both teams.

Trade Breakdown

Los Angeles Lakers get:

G MarShon Brooks
G Kent Bazemore

Golden State Warriors get:

G Steve Blake

I was never a huge Blake fan before this season, but he hit the game winning 3 to beat the Rockets this season so he get a little bit of a G pass from me. The Warriors will get stability at the point guard position off the bench and will be able to slide newly required Jordan Crawford over to the two guard (off the bench). Blake can hit the 3 consistently and is a pest on defense. This move may finally ease the pain of losing Jarrett Jack in the off season.

The Lakers got cap relief out of this deal. Bazemore could be a sleeper out of this deal if he’s able to make positive out of the playing time he’ll receive for the rest of the year. I thought my boy Brooks would’ve emerged already as a solid player with either the Celtics or Warriors, but it doesn’t seem to be working out for him maybe LA will be his good luck charm?

Blake is owed the rest of his $4 million for the season. Will be a free agent in the summer.

Bazemore and Brooks are owed the rest of $762k and $1.2 million respectively. Both will be free agents this summer.

Blake will be able to help the Warriors with their playoff push. With that being said the Warriors won this deal.

Let us know how y’all feel about this minor deal before the deadline.
