Cleveland Browns erase first round of ’12 draft

I know, the Browns have hit reset on many drafts, kind of like that kid who can’t win in franchise mode on Madden so he turns the power button off, but that’s not the point here.

During the ’13 season they traded running back Trent Richardson who was their first pick (third) in the first round in the ’12 draft to the Indianapolis Colts for a first round pick in the upcoming ’14 draft. At the time it seemed very stupid, but after watching Trent play for the Colts, it turned out to be a genius move. Even though it was a great move it proved they made major mistakes in the first round of the ’12. I know it wasn’t the same regime, but it’s still the Browns.

During the ’12 draft they also picked quarterback Brandon Weeden in the first round to be the future of the franchise, but last week they finally let go of that pipe dream by releasing the 40, I mean the 30 year old quarterback. 30 isn’t old by any means, but for a player heading into his third year that’s different. They finally let Weinke, Weeden go and Browns fans even made a tribute to Weeden for his terrible tenure.

Hey, Browns fans maybe you guys can turn the corner with a good ’14 draft? You guys have two first round picks again, prior history doesn’t bode well for you guys, but hey somebody has to buck the trend right?
