You have got to be (KIDD)ing

A deal has been reached between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets that will send head coach Jason Kidd from Brooklyn to become Head coach of the Bucks.  In return the Nets will receive two future second round picks.  It’s been reported that Kidd had tension with upper management in Brooklyn this past season even getting word they were going to fire him when they were losing a ton of games early in the season.  Larry Drew a more seasoned coach with a better track record thus far, gets canned after just one season in Milwaukee. Brooklyn posted a record of 44-38 and played very well down the stretch eventually losing to the Eastern Conference Champs to Kidd’s credit, but can it truly be seen as a success?  Brooklyn was expected to be a power and threat out east with a roster full of seasoned veterans and perennial all-stars.  They lost their star big man early in the season but still under achieved with a team that included Iso-Joe, P-Double, D Will and The Big Ticket.  It appears that Kidd may have gotten antsy after the recent hires of Steve Kerr and Derek Fisher earning deals of upwards of 20 million dollars.  Who can blame him with his deal being around 10 million for the same amount of years.  It also probably factored in that with his team expected to “win now” and not coming close to doing that, he should opt for a young up and coming team with the new second pick of the 2014 NBA draft Jabari Parker as the face of it’s franchise.  With all due respect to KG and Paul their glory days are long behind them.  It doesn’t seem at this time that Kidd is worth 2 picks to a franchise that has not won a championship since Kareem was Lewis Alcindor in 1971.  No I did not have to Google the previous sentence FYI.  Is Kidd having just one coached season under his belt worthy of the kind of personnel power that Doc Rivers and Greg Popovich have?  Only time will tell.

  1. He shouldn’t have the juice yet. I feel bad for Drew who is a solid coach. The Bucks did this for a strong name, the pressure won’t be on Kidd in Milwaukee because they are use to being trash.
