NKU’s John L. Griffin Court gets a new design

Northern Kentucky University Director of Athletics Ken Bothof unveiled a new design for John L. Griffin Court in BB&T Arena Wednesday morning. The new design features a Norse ship watermarked in a golden hue, with the NKU Norse wordmark in the middle of the ship’s sail at center court.

“We wanted a new, fresh look for the court to showcase the Norse brand,” said Bothof. “The Norse ship rising through the sea is meant to serve as a metaphor for the uprising of Northern Kentucky athletics.”

“Northern Kentucky” is written along each baseline, while “Northern Kentucky University” is positioned along the sideline opposite the scorer’s table and oriented for television broadcasts.

Northern Kentucky’s official website, NKUNorse.com, and twitter handle, @NKUNorse, are prominently displayed next to the two benches.  On each end of the court, the Horizon League logo appears in the lane and both John L. Griffin Court and BB&T Arena are written inside the three-point arc.

John L. Griffin Court in BB&T Arena serves as the home for both NKU men’s and women’s basketball teams. The arena also entertains several local high school tournaments and will host both the 2016 and 2017 Kentucky High School Athletic Association Girls Sweet 16, marking the first high school state championship at BB&T Arena.
