The Northern Kentucky men’s basketball team will embark on its inaugural season in the Horizon League this winter, and both the 18-game league schedule and game times* for all home games have been released.
The Norse tip-off their league schedule on Jan. 2 with a 2 p.m. matinee contest at Green Bay before making the drive across Wisconsin for a Monday, Jan. 4 showdown with Milwaukee. The league opener with Green Bay will be carried exclusively on ESPN3.
A three-game homestand then opens up on Jan. 9, when the Norse play host to local foe Wright State. NKU and WSU will tip at 1 p.m. The game against Wright State is Northern Kentucky’s first home Horizon League contest. Games against Youngstown State and Cleveland State follow on Jan. 16 and 18, respectively. The three-game home stretch also serves as the start of a five-week period where NKU will play eight-of-10 games in BB&T Arena.
Following a trip to Rochester, Michigan, on Jan. 19 for a meeting with Oakland, Northern Kentucky will host UIC and Valparaiso before heading back to Michigan for a matchup with Detroit (Jan. 29).
The stretch of home contests concludes with another three-game set at BB&T Arena. Oakland comes to town on Feb. 1, while Green Bay and Milwaukee make the trip on Feb. 4 and 6, respectively.
Road contests at Valparaiso (Feb. 11) and UIC (Feb. 13) precede Northern Kentucky’s final home game of the season, a Feb. 16 showdown with Detroit.
Three-consecutive road games at Wright State (Feb. 20), Cleveland State (Feb. 25) and Youngstown State (Feb. 27) close the regular-season for the Norse.
NKU will head North to Detroit, Michigan, and Joe Louis Arena for the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship held from March 5-8.
The majority of Northern Kentucky’s home games are set for 7 p.m. The notable exceptions are the conference home-opener with Wright State and the matchup with Valparaiso on Jan. 24, both of which are scheduled for 1 p.m. The exhibition contest with Ohio Northern is also set for 1 p.m.
Additional game times will be added to the schedule as they become available.
Several road game times have been set as well. NKU will play Xavier at 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 23. Games at Michigan, Toledo, North Carolina A&T, Oakland and Youngstown State are set for 7 p.m.
