What does the Carlos Hyde trade mean for the Browns and Jaguars?

For the Jaguars they have been dealing with a lot of injuries in the back field and the main one is to star running back Leonard Fournette. Fournette has been dealing with a hamstring injury that has lingered all season and has no set timetable to return which isn’t good for a team that depends on its running game because of its lack of passing game aka Blake Bortles.

Corey Grant has been place on IR because of a season ending injury and T.J. Yeldon hasn’t been setting the world on fire with his extra playing time. Yeldon has been solid, but not great and he is a real threat as a pass catcher out of the backfield. He has 67 carries for 299 yards and a touchdown and 25 catches for 233 yards and three touchdowns.

They also have signed Jamaal Charles, but Charles is on the down slope of his career, so trading for Hyde means they believe the Fournette injury is serious and they need another back they can push the load on.

On the surface this seems like a good deal for both teams a team gets assets and another team get an asset for a position they need quality bodies for.
