Cronin leaves for UCLA, who is next in Cincy?

The Mick Cronin era in Cincinnati basketball is over, today he signed a six-year deal worth $24 million, yes that averages out to four million a year, you can’t be mad at that. I know California cost of living and taxes will eat into that, but the extra resources he will have at this disposal will be worth the increase of cost of living.

We heard Cronin’s name come up in d*** near every Power Five job that came available, it seemed as if UCLA and Virginia Tech rumors had the most legs after John Calipari, Rick Barnes, Tony Bennett and Jamie Dixon all passed on UCLA, Cronin is now the man.

In his 13 years with the program the Cincinnati native did a lot of good things, he graduated a lot of his players, made nine NCAA Tournaments in a row, made a 16 Sweet and many other things. Good luck to Cronin in LA!

If the Bearcats can hire the right replacement maybe they can take the next step in March sooner than later, which is what majority of the fan base is yearning for.

Currently the rumor mill is running wild from names of Nick Van Exel (current Memphis Grizzlies assistant coach), John Brennan (NKU) and others have been popping up. I don’t know who Mike Bohn has in mind, but if the program gets a guy who plays at a faster pace on a consistent basis it could be a blessing in disguise.

#BearcatNation put your seat belts on, we know this program has been very solid for a long time and with Bohn’s current hiring history, we just have to trust the process!
